LOCATION:

San Diego, California but open to remote applicants.

DESCRIPTION:

Key Conservation is looking for an Editorial and Content Volunteer who will work closely with the team to help showcase the ongoing development of the app, the conservation organizations that are approved pilot projects and build momentum as we lead up to the app launch. We are looking for someone who is passionate about conservation, science communication, and graphic design. 

 

POTENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work with the Key Conservation team to develop exciting new content of the work being done behind the scenes at Key Conservation HQ, Key Conservation Pilot Projects, app development, and more that will be featured on our social media platforms

• Develop content to showcase how the features of the app will work and how conservation organizations and their supporters can use them

• Utilize a content calendar to organize and plan content as needed

• Assist with creating email outlines to update supporters on the progress of the development of the Key Conservation app

• Coordinate interviews with Key Conservation team members, Pilot Projects, developers, and Beta Testers

• Compile research on interview subjects as needed and create clear interview scripts

• Explore new ways to expand our social media presence

 

SKILLS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

• A high school degree required

• Familiar with Canva, experience with Buffer is preferred but not required

• Proficient with common social media platforms (Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook)

• Excellent written and verbal skills

• Past writing experience preferred

• Passion for conservation and technology, experience in conservation is preferred

• Ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment 

• Must be able to work as part of a team

 

LENGTH AND COMPENSATION:

• Hours and length: 3 months, the schedule is flexible to fit the applicant's availability 

• This position is unpaid but we are passionate about helping our volunteers gain valuable skills and connections to advance their career in conservation

• Willing to provide school credit and good references, if applicable
